About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced LC Analyst to join our state-of-the-art laboratory in Bedford. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for running a range of methods for the identification and quantification of pesticides, priority pollutants, and emerging contaminants using LC-MS/MS.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform trace organic analysis on a wide range of samples/matrices.
- Operate triple quadrupole and single quadrupole LC-MS instrumentation, as well as other laboratory equipment.
- Work with extraction staff to ensure samples are prepared for analysis according to business requirements.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of LC-MS/MS instrumentation.
- Prepare samples, solutions, and reagents following standard laboratory formulas and procedures.
- Process and interpret analytical results.
Requirements:
- Experience working in an accredited analytical testing laboratory, preferably in the environmental sector.
- Knowledge of single and triple quadrupole LC-MS systems operating in ESI and APCI ionization modes.
- Experience with Agilent Chemstation and Masshunter software is desirable.
- Experience with sample preparation techniques, including liquid-liquid extraction, solid phase extraction, and QuEChERS.
- Experience with conducting routine maintenance and troubleshooting of LC-based systems.
- Minimum of a 2:1 BSc in Chemistry or a closely related subject, or equivalent industrial experience.
- Excellent time management skills, attention to detail, and ability to cope under pressure.
