Location: Wandsworth
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Planning Sustainability Officer to join our Spatial Planning and Design Team. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in shaping our approach to sustainability and climate resilience.
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of sustainability and climate resilience matters, with the ability to facilitate compliance with climate change policies in the Local Plans (Richmond and Wandsworth) and ensure the delivery of net-zero development across both boroughs.
You will be responsible for upskilling and knowledge transfer amongst the wider planning team and more corporately to support the development of robust sustainability knowledge within the team and beyond.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead on sustainability in the Spatial Planning and Design team, working closely with the corporate sustainability team on sustainability and climate resilience matters.
- Challenge sustainability assessments as appropriate and apply technical knowledge to ensure optimum carbon savings can be delivered on developments as they come forward.
- Coach and supervise junior planning officers to help them acquire the skills and knowledge to become self-reliant in dealing with technical and people issues.
- Evaluate planning applications, provide advice and support to Councillors on sustainability matters, and lead on workstreams related to sustainability in planning.
