About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Analyst to join our dynamic and innovative Data & Analytics Department at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

As a Senior Data Analyst, you will play a key role in collecting, processing, analysing, and presenting data from various sources to support the Trust's vision and values.

You will collaborate with clinical and managerial staff, as well as external stakeholders, to provide timely and accurate data that informs their decision making and planning.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Collect, validate, and integrate data from various sources, including electronic patient records, clinical systems, surveys, audits, and national datasets.
  2. Apply appropriate statistical and analytical methods and tools to analyse and interpret data, including descriptive and inferential statistics, data mining, data modelling, and data visualisation.
  3. Respond to ad hoc data requests and queries from internal and external stakeholders, ensuring data accuracy, reliability, and confidentiality.
  4. Identify and investigate data quality issues and anomalies and propose and implement solutions to improve data quality and integrity.
  5. Support the development and implementation of data standards, policies, and systems, including data dictionaries, data governance frameworks, and data quality assurance processes.

Requirements:

  • 'A' Levels or equivalent
  • Maths and English GCSE grade C (4/5) and above or equivalent
  • Ongoing learning and development aspirations

  • Analytical & logical approach to problem solving
  • Organised & able to work to tight deadlines
  • Able to work on own initiative

Communication Skills:

  • Good interpersonal/team skills
  • Good negotiating and influencing skills
  • Able to work flexibly & develop working relationships across organisational boundaries

IT Experience/Knowledge:

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Good level of understanding of relational databases
  • Excellent analytical and numeric skills
  • Querying data with Microsoft SQL

Experience & Skills:

  • Broad and current knowledge of NHS information and processes
  • Customer focussed outlook
  • Knowledge of NHS activity issues, data collection and reporting
