Housing Officer Job Description

Nacro, a national Social Justice Charity with over 50 years' experience, is seeking a skilled Housing Officer to join their team. This full-time, permanent position is based in Bournemouth.

Job Overview

We provide flexible and holistic support to residents who require assistance with housing and accommodation services. The successful candidate will work closely with our residents to create realistic support plans, ensuring they have the necessary tools to achieve their goals and aspirations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support Planning: Develop person-centred support plans that cater to each resident's unique needs and objectives.
  • Risk Assessment: Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify potential challenges and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Weekly Support Sessions: Provide regular support sessions (up to 2 hours per week) to help residents achieve their support plan goals.
  • Housing Benefit Applications: Assist residents in applying for Housing Benefit to prevent tenancy risks due to escalating rent arrears.
  • Property Maintenance: Ensure properties are well-maintained by reporting repairs and replacing furniture and equipment as needed.
  • Collaboration: Liaise with partner agencies, such as Probation and Prison Services, Courts, and Police, to ensure effective support.
Requirements
  • Experience: Proven experience working with vulnerable adults, particularly those with complex needs.
  • Skills: Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • Qualifications: Familiarity with computer-based packages and an enhanced DBS check.
  • Travel: Flexibility to travel within your allocated area for training and team meetings.
Benefits

This role offers a competitive salary of £25,000-£30,000 per annum, depending on experience, and a comprehensive benefits package, including access to Nacro's Employee Assistance Programme.
