PE Teaching Assistant Opportunity

GSL Education - Yorkshire is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic PE Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant, co-educational school in Barnsley.

As a PE Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the PE department, helping students develop their physical skills, confidence, a healthy lifestyle, and enthusiasm for sports.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist PE teachers in delivering engaging and effective PE lessons.
  • Support students in participating in physical activities and sports.
  • Help organise and run extracurricular sports events and competitions.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students needing additional help.
  • Ensure health and safety guidelines are followed during physical activities.
  • Help to set up sports equipment and maintain a tidy environment for lessons.
  • Assist with administrative tasks related to the PE department.
Essential Requirements:
  • Previous experience as a PE Teaching Assistant or a background in sports is preferred.
  • A passion for promoting health, fitness, and physical education in young people.
  • The ability to engage and inspire students to participate fully in physical education.
  • A sound understanding of safeguarding and health and safety in a PE environment.
