Group Financial Controller

Broster Buchanan Ltd is delighted to be working in partnership with Burgess Farms, a family business with over 125 years of heritage. This is a unique opportunity to join a passionate business that actively supports the local community and prioritizes sustainable farming practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead financial reporting, statutory reporting, and treasury/banking arrangements for the group.
  • Enhance communication across the wider business, promoting a culture of business partnering.
  • Coordinate large capital projects and raise capital as required.
  • Manage the group treasury function, including cash forecasting, banking covenants, and cash utilization reporting.
  • Oversee the ledger teams, ensuring they meet a suite of KPIs understood by all business stakeholders.
  • Provide fit-for-purpose publication of financial reports and commentary to a pre-agreed routine.
  • Manage the year-end audit and statutory accounts.
  • Regularly liaise with Site Finance Business Partners to provide guidance and support.
  • Deputize for the Board Manager as appropriate.
  • Drive continuous improvement to MI reports and processes, including business KPIs.
  • Proactively identify financial opportunities, risks, and trends and raise them with the Board.
  • Ensure central overheads are regularly reported, reviewed, and controlled.
  • Ensure strong financial controls are in place across the business.
Requirements
  • CCAB qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or similar) with a broad range of experience gained in practice or industry.
  • Sound knowledge of accounting standards, tax, and VAT legislation.
  • Experience in cash management, ideally in a seasonal business.
  • Good IT skills for data manipulation and presentation to internal and external parties.
  • People person with the ability to advise and influence.
  • Enjoys developing a high-performance team.
  • Understanding of the produce sector is a significant advantage but not essential.
