The Royal Opera House is a world-renowned institution, renowned for its exquisite productions and commitment to excellence. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Costume Production Assistant to join our Men's Costume Workroom team.
Job Overview
This is a 12-month fixed term contract, providing maternity cover for the Men's Workroom Manager/Cutter position. As a Costume Production Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting in managing the activities and staff of the Men's Workroom, ensuring that all tasks are carried out to the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Men's Workroom Manager/Cutter in overseeing daily operations, including staff management and workflow coordination.
- Collaborate with designers, makers, and other team members to ensure seamless production processes and timely completion of projects.
- Develop and implement effective solutions to improve workflow efficiency and productivity.
- Maintain accurate records of work progress, inventory, and supply chain management.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of new techniques and best practices within the workroom.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Theatrical Costume and Design or comparable qualification/experience in craft skills.
- Proven track record in craft skills workrooms with a production venue or comparable film/TV experience.
- Extensive practical cutting and making experience, with a sympathetic approach to creative concepts.
- Able to accurately interpret design concepts from scale drawings and sketches.
- Excellent knowledge of costume fitting and alteration techniques, as well as modern and traditional methods of construction.
What We Offer
We offer a competitive salary of £44,000 per annum, based on Covent Garden, London. This role provides an excellent opportunity to work with a talented team, develop your skills, and contribute to the success of the Royal Opera House.
