About Us

The Science Museum Group's National Collections Centre (NCC) is a 545-acre Science and Innovation Park that serves as the hub for collections management and access. Our state-of-the-art facilities house over 400,000 objects and 1.5 million items in our Library and Archive, offering a unique environment for those who share our passion for preserving and showcasing scientific history.

We are seeking 6 talented individuals to join our NCC Collections Team as Collection Project Officers. These full-time roles come with a fixed term contract until October/December 2025, working 35 hours per week.

About the Role

This role presents a fantastic chance to work alongside a fast-paced team, gaining hands-on experience with one of the world's greatest science, technology, and medicine collections. You will play a crucial part in making our collections stored at the National Collections Centre available digitally through our Collections Online portal.

There are 3 different projects covering the 6 CPO vacancies. As a successful candidate, you will be assigned to work on a specific project, which will be discussed during the interview process.

About You

We are looking for individuals with practical and relevant experience in object handling, as well as a solid understanding of collections care and preventive conservation. The ideal candidate should possess excellent attention to detail, the ability to work efficiently, and a commitment to maintaining consistently high standards. You will also be able to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team, effectively communicating with colleagues to meet deadlines.

You will be required to assist with the manual movement of our collections, using manual handling techniques and equipment proficiently, such as trolleys.
