About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Communication and Engagement Specialist to join our team at the Cabinet Office. As a key member of our Communications and Engagement team, you will play a vital role in building and maintaining trust with our users, ensuring effective, open, and transparent communications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, create, and deliver clear content for a range of audiences and channels, including online, offline, internal, and external.
  • Identify opportunities to promote our messages and support those we serve.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships across the organisation and externally with stakeholders and officials to enable accurate, appropriate, and timely delivery of key messages.
  • Ensure proper use of insight and evaluation across all activity to inform future work.
  • Contribute to strategic plans, evaluation documents, reports, and other communications materials and briefings.

Requirements

  • Experience of delivering clear, accurate, and effective communications and engagement content.
  • Excellent written skills with the ability to take complex policy information and explain it to non-expert audiences in a straightforward way.
  • Experience of working collaboratively across teams with colleagues at all levels and with external stakeholders with clear outcomes.
  • Contributes to the development and delivering of communications and engagement plans, including evaluation.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding, and unpredictable environment with the ability to prioritise work, often under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the confidence to challenge decisions should it be necessary.

Working Arrangements

A minimum 60% of your working time should be spent at your principal workplace. Although requirements to attend other locations for official business will also count towards this level of attendance.

Benefits

Alongside your salary of £35,400, Cabinet Office contributes £10,255 towards you being a member of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme. You will also receive learning and development tailored to your role, an environment with flexible working options, a culture encouraging inclusion and diversity, and a minimum of 25 days of paid annual leave, increasing by one day per year up to a maximum of 30.
