Senior HSE Officer Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior HSE Officer to join our long-standing African operation. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving health and safety programs that support our Underground Operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement health and safety objectives, processes, programs, and initiatives across our sites.
  • Ensure workplace practices comply with state and company standards.
  • Lead the development and implementation of health and safety programs to mitigate risk, prevent injuries, meet regulatory requirements, and protect people, property, and the environment.
  • Facilitate and participate in the development, implementation, and ongoing review of risk assessments, site risk registers, and control plans.
  • Coordinate the Critical Risk Management program and develop and implement crisis and emergency management planning, coordination, and incident response.
  • Participate in detailed incident investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Ensure adequate Emergency Response requirements are met.
Requirements:
  • Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or Applied Sciences.
  • Relevant safety technical, managerial, and financial knowledge.
  • Mining industry experience in hard rock underground mining.
  • Occupational health and safety instructor (underground) with experience in developing and conducting health & safety training.
  • Applied knowledge of relevant OSHA, MSHA, state, and other regulatory requirements, as well as industry standards and practices.
