Electrical Maintenance Engineer Role

At South West Water, we're committed to providing reliable and efficient drinking water and wastewater services to the beautiful South West area. We're looking for an experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join our team based in Exeter. As an Electrical Maintenance Engineer, you'll be responsible for fault finding, repairing, and maintaining assets across our Operational sites. You'll work closely with other disciplines in a mobile field team to deliver quality support and minimize risk to our customers. Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivery of quality support using expertise and experience in electrical, control, and process systems.
  • Carrying out repairs and maintenance across Operational sites, diagnosing faults on all aspects of asset control, electrical systems, and automation.
  • Working with other disciplines in a mobile field team to deliver quality support and minimize risk to our customers.
  • Liaising with all staff affected by any work undertaken.
  • Requirement to compile or update any site engineering documentation to enable Operational functions to carry out, support, and maintain the works process and performance.
  • Proactively supporting our internal customers in line with the South West Water vision of Trusted, Responsible, Collaborative, and Progressive.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and carry out works to the satisfaction of the maintenance delivery model and the operations team as required.
  • Conforming and adhering at all times to current ISO, H & S systems, procedures, and policies.
  • A willingness to undertake such training as is required to ensure continued improvement of technical skills and Health and Safety awareness is kept up to date.
  • Complying with all business rules relating to delivery of and feedback regarding all maintenance activity.

Requirements

We're looking for an experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer with a time-served apprenticeship supported by relevant formal qualifications, such as City and Guilds, BTEC, ONC/HNC/HND. You'll also need to be compliant with current IEE Regs 18th Edition and have experience in fault finding, industrial/commercial experience, and a full UK driving license. Desirable skills include City & Guilds Inspect and Test 2391-10, experience with VSD's, soft starts, and motor control systems, understanding of wiring diagrams, and knowledge of working with Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
