Polytec Personnel Ltd is seeking a skilled Purchasing Manager to oversee all procurement activities for our client based in the Cambridge area. This role requires a full, clean driving licence and own transport for travel.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement a comprehensive supply chain strategy to meet customer demands.
- Identify, select, and approve new suppliers, ensuring they meet quality and cost requirements.
- Negotiate and establish contractual agreements with suppliers, focusing on cost reduction and quality improvement.
- Manage stock ordering, lean inventory management, and forecasting to optimize supply chain efficiency.
- Ensure timely delivery of materials to support customer demand, with an escalation path for purchasing and supplier issues.
- Drive continuous improvement activities, cost reduction, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Manage new product introductions, including international travel as required.
- Degree in a relevant field, with MCIPS preferred.
- Extensive supply chain experience in electronics, telecommunications, or consumer goods.
- Proven management of complex global supplier and customer relationships.
- Team management experience, with excellent IT skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Dynamics AX.
- Experience in offshore contract manufacturing management and ability to influence at senior level.
