Cardiology Technologist

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Cardiology Technologist to join our team at Kootenay Lake Hospital in Nelson, BC. As a Cardiology Technologist, you will be responsible for performing a variety of diagnostic cardiac tests, including electrocardiograms, stress tests, and Holter monitoring. You will work independently within a supportive team environment to prepare patients for testing, operate equipment, and analyze data for interpretation by medical staff.

Key Responsibilities:
Prepare patients for testing by explaining procedures and answering questions.
Perform electrocardiograms, stress tests, and Holter monitoring by attaching electrodes, operating equipment, and analyzing data.
Monitor patients and scan test strips during cardiograms and stress tests, taking appropriate action upon recognition of cardiac arrhythmias or other abnormalities.
Scan and analyze ECG, stress, Holter, and event monitor test strips, selecting and assessing appropriate portions for interpretation by medical staff.
Transfer and assign ECGs in ECG Cardiology Management systems for interpretation by medical staff.
Demonstrate ECG testing procedures and operation of related equipment as required.
Monitor ongoing departmental activity levels and assist fellow staff to meet requests for service.
Maintain statistics and files completed reports.
Maintain equipment by cleaning, lubricating, and replacing items such as paper rolls, electrodes, and leads.
Supervise support staff as required, performing duties such as assigning and scheduling work, evaluating performance, and providing input into hiring and disciplinary matters.
Participate in Quality Management and/or Quality Assurance programs by providing information and input to Manager (or designate).
Participate in the instruction/orientation of staff and/or students by assisting with departmental orientations, in-service presentations, demonstrating procedures, and answering questions as required.
Maintain and update own clinical knowledge within area of practice.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
