Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Applications and Field Service Engineer to provide technical support and training to customers across the Materials Analysis product range of analytical equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of electronic pc-based systems, problem-solving abilities, and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform onsite installations of systems and software.
  • Provide user orientation training at point of installation.
  • Provide onsite assistance to customers to resolve instrument breakdowns.
  • Take ownership of customer problems and liaise with internal departments to resolve issues.
  • Promote a positive image of Oxford Instruments in all communications.
  • Advise customers on availability of instrumentation related options, upgrades, and support contracts.
  • Maximise support efficiency and customer value using the latest OI techniques in IoT Telemetry and Augmented reality.
  • Ensure all customer issues are captured and reported back via the field service management system.

Requirements:

  • Science Degree/PhD preferably in Electronics, Physics, Materials Science, Metallurgy, or Chemistry.
  • Knowledge within the microanalysis field, particularly EDS/EBSD/Nanomanipulators/WDS, would be an advantage.
  • Experience of running TEM/SEM would be an advantage.
  • Sound problem-solving abilities and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work unsupervised and to tight deadlines.
  • Full UK driving license is essential.
