Job Summary:
  • Manage and provide the Pharmacy Clinical Trial Service for the Freeman Hospital and its elements, ensuring compliance with EU Clinical Trials Directive and Trust Research Governance Policies.
  • Organize and develop clinical pharmacy services in cancer services, incorporating advanced therapies within clinical trials and standard of care settings.
  • Audit compliance with Medicines Management Committee, Formulary, and Hospital Trust recommendations across identified areas within the Trust.
  • Participate in Trust-wide meetings regarding management and organization of the Pharmacy Clinical Trials Service within the Trust.
  • Perform the professional role of a Registered Pharmacist, including advice, supervision, and cooperation with colleagues.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement clinical pharmacy services in cancer services, ensuring compliance with EU Clinical Trials Directive and Trust Research Governance Policies.
  • Provide training and education to pharmacy and other staff on handling information on Investigational Medicinal Products (IMPs) in accordance with Trust guidelines and National Legislation/Guidance.
  • Conduct audits to ensure compliance with Medicines Management Committee, Formulary, and Hospital Trust recommendations.
  • Participate in Trust-wide meetings to discuss management and organization of the Pharmacy Clinical Trials Service.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to provide advice, supervision, and cooperation in the professional role of a Registered Pharmacist.
Requirements:
  • Registered Pharmacist with MPharm degree and postgraduate pre-registration training.
  • Clinical Diploma or equivalent higher qualification.
  • Independent Prescriber qualification or commitment to enter into the next intake for obtaining the qualification.
  • Management training course.
  • Clinical Masters.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
  • Extensive post-registration experience in hospital pharmacy, some at a senior level.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD).
  • Understanding of Clinical Trials legislation.
  • Understanding of National Clinical Trials policy and practice.
  • Knowledge of clinical research and its role in pharmacy and medicine.
  • Well-developed clinical pharmacy knowledge across all aspects of drug use.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of CT procedures.
  • Demonstrable awareness of developments in Hospital Pharmacy.
  • Demonstrate they have undertaken a staff management role.
  • Demonstrable involvement in Clinical Trials Support.
  • Demonstrate they have been involved in the area of clinical audit.
  • Demonstrable awareness of legislation affecting Pharmacy (directly & indirectly).
  • Awareness of Trust policies & procedures which impinge on role.
  • Specialist knowledge of the cancer services clinical area or directorate.
