About the Opportunity

This role offers a unique chance to join the Finance team at Khoury College and contribute to the delivery of high-quality payroll services. As a Payroll Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of payroll, ensuring compliance with HMRC and pension requirements, and supporting the Director of Finance in delivering regulatory reporting.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of process improvement and development, strong managerial skills, and an aptitude for working independently to tight deadlines.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Payroll Manager is accountable for the following key tasks:

  • Processing payroll operations, including onboarding new staff, processing changes, and calculating salary sacrifice deductions.
  • Providing oversight and cover for Payroll Co-Ordinator duties, ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll transactions.
  • Managing Workday Payroll functionality, including implementation of additional features and process documentation.
  • Ensuring timely and accurate reporting and audits for time sheets, including weekly reconciliation and processing of amended/retro time sheets.

Reporting & Compliance:

  • Providing the Director of Finance with accurate and complete monthly net calculations for review and subsequent payment by Finance.
  • Monthly reporting of Full Payment submissions, Full payment adjustments, and other Employee-related returns to HMRC.
  • Monthly reporting of pension contributions to Scottish Widows.

Additional Duties:

  • Assisting the Director of Finance in preparing reports for senior management, stakeholders, and board members.
  • Supporting the Director of Finance during the migration from SAGE Payroll to Workday, including testing and implementation of system functionality.

Person specification criteria:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Strong payroll skills gained in a similar role (min 2 years).
  • Good written communications and strong interpersonal skills to deal with individuals at various levels.
  • Good working knowledge of SAGE Payroll and/or Workday Payroll desirable.
  • Excellent analytical and technical skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
