Lead Science Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Science Technician to join our team at a fantastic Secondary School in Lewisham, South London. As a Lead Science Technician, you will be responsible for leading the practical and technical aspects of the science curriculum, preparing and maintaining resources, and providing technical support to the Science Department.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead practical and technical aspects of science curriculum
- Prepare, maintain, organise and manage resources required for healthy, safe and secure practical activities
- Provide technical support to Science Department
- Work closely with AP/ Heads of Department and attend departmental meetings
- Manage provision of technical support for learning activities
- Advise technician team on departmental matters and needs for additional support in consultation with the team leader, where appropriate
- Work with pupils in the delivery/demonstration of practical learning activities
- Preparation and maintenance of teaching areas and equipment for pupils
- Monitor stock levels of consumables, e.g. petri dishes, syringes, pipettes, safety equipment etc
- Receive chemicals, equipment and biological materials and to ensure all recorded items have been delivered in good condition as per the delivery note
- Ensure all materials are stored neatly and in an organised and safe way to prevent damage
- Maintain records of health and safety checks, risk assessments, instruction manuals, data sheets, service and repair records etc.
- Co-manage the budget for the purchase of technical materials and equipment alongside the Head of Science and to undertake regular audits of resources
- Lead on stock control, compiling orders and liaising or negotiating with suppliers
- Purchase supplies in accordance with the school purchasing policy and maintain appropriate records
