Salary and Benefits

The salary for this role is £37,500 - £43,000 per annum, plus an additional £2,000 after one year and ongoing bonuses of up to 10%.

You will also receive 25 days of annual leave, plus bank holidays, with the option to buy or sell additional days. Your annual registration fees will be paid, and you will have access to a comprehensive training programme.

Job Description

As a Functional Assessor, your primary responsibility will be to assess individuals and their disabilities or conditions' impact on their work life.

You will draw on your clinical expertise to listen carefully to each person's medical history, perform physical examinations, and produce concise, accurate reports for the Department of Work & Pensions (DWP).

Your tasks will involve meeting people face-to-face and via telephone/video calls. You must be sensitive, compassionate, and able to ask the right questions while maintaining best practice standards.

You will have the time needed to make precise assessments and give each person your full attention. Although you will work independently, you will be part of a larger multi-disciplinary team, with access to support whenever needed.

Requirements
  • An NMC Level 1 Registered Adult Nurse with a minimum of 12 months broad-based clinical post-registration experience within the past 5 years.
  • Experience working with adults in various clinical situations.
  • NMC-registered with Continuous Professional Development on your CV.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and respond to changing environments.
  • IT skills and experience using a range of software.
  • Self-awareness and focus on professional development.
  • Honesty and ability to maintain integrity and customer confidentiality.
  • Motivation to contribute to quality customer service, demonstrating empathy, respect, and sensitivity in assessment delivery.
  • Able to work independently to meet deadlines and standards.
  • Willingness to work as a reliable and efficient team member and support the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
About You

This role would suit a motivated individual who can demonstrate recent experience working in surgical, medical, A&E, community, and practice nursing environments. You should have a broad-based experience and excellent communication skills.
