Job Title: Rail - Project Quantity Surveyor

As a key member of our Commercial, Estimating, and Buying team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the financial success of our construction projects. Your primary responsibility will be to manage and control costs, ensuring that all construction work carried out by our company is completed within budget.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Enhance individual performance across all procedural aspects to attain greater efficiency and profitability.
  • Manage and control costs, ensuring that all construction work is completed within budget.
  • Prepare realistic construction budgets and provide detailed cost analysis.
  • Collaborate with other departments, including Land, Development, and Construction, to advise on cost implications.
  • Attend design meetings, development meetings, and contract pre-start meetings to ensure that all aspects of the project are considered.
  • Check contract drawings for errors, omissions, and anomalies, and distribute design information packages and tender drawings.
  • Prepare construction cost analysis, including analysis of quotations and requesting additional information as required.
  • Assess site staffing levels and build programmes with the Construction Director to ascertain preliminary costs.
  • Arrange and adjudicate budget settlement meetings, and place subcontractor orders.
  • Check and arrange subcontractor payments, and agree final accounts with subcontractors.
Requirements:
  • Experience in quantity surveying and knowledge of construction techniques and mixed-tenure schemes.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Excel and ability to learn new computer systems.
  • Good understanding of strategic objectives and targeting financial return, with the ability to understand and manipulate complex financial models.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, with the use of Microsoft Excel at a proficient level.
