About the Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Quarry Manager to join and lead our friendly team at Tarmac Stowfield Quarry and Asphalt Plant, Coleford in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire. This role is easily accessible from various surrounding areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and be accountable for all quarrying and asphalt plant operations on the site, ensuring safety and operational standards are met.
  • Manage, coach, and develop a highly skilled team using KPIs to ensure business continuity and reduce business risk.
  • Manage all aspects of budgetary control for all quarrying operations and produce operational reports.
  • Maintain and implement existing and new Standard Operating Procedures, risk assessments, and training staff on the same.
  • Manage and oversee the safe operation of the Quarry and Asphalt Plant and the planned preventative maintenance of all the site's equipment.
  • Ensure the plant meets operational and production requirements.
  • Manage proactively both mandatory training and developmental training of staff and keep an up-to-date training matrix.
  • Collate and report on monthly performance KPIs for the business unit.
  • Ensure a one-team approach, having buy-in from all members of staff to maximise outputs and have clear working goals.

Requirements

  • Experience in Quarrying operations or a similar working environment.
  • Diploma in Quarry Technology/FdSc Extractives Technology (or similar qualification).
  • SHE NVQ Level 4 or QCF Level 6.
  • Knowledge of techniques employed to load extracted minerals and viable options to transport extracted minerals and its applications within the industry.
  • Understanding different methods of winning and extracting raw material.
  • Full knowledge of Risk Assessments and Safe System of Work Systems.
  • Working knowledge of production processes, H&S and Environmental policies.
  • Strong drive for continuous improvement to reduce costs where possible and minimise waste streams through effective monitoring and processing.
  • Strong IT skills including SAP (preferred) and Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to multitask and effectively manage change.
  • Ability to manage staff effectively and empower them to make good decisions.
  • IOSH/NEBOSH would be advantageous.
