Industrial Maintenance Specialist

As a Mechanical Equipment Technician at Thames Water, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the smooth operation of our water treatment facilities. With a strong background in mechanical systems and a passion for problem-solving, you will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing complex equipment to prevent downtime and ensure our customers receive high-quality water services.
In this role, you will work closely with our process technicians to identify and resolve technical issues, implement scheduled maintenance plans, and provide technical advice to support our teams. Your expertise will be essential in maintaining our state-of-the-art machinery, including pumps, valves, and other critical equipment.
We are looking for an experienced professional who can hit the ground running and make a significant contribution to our operations team. If you have a proven track record in mechanical engineering, excellent problem-solving skills, and a willingness to learn and adapt, we encourage you to apply.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and repair mechanical equipment, including pumps, valves, and pipework.
- Investigate and troubleshoot technical issues to minimize downtime.
- Collaborate with process technicians to develop and implement maintenance schedules.
- Provide technical guidance and support to colleagues as needed.
What You'll Need
To succeed in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:
- A time-served apprenticeship or equivalent experience in mechanical engineering.
- NVQ or C&G level 3 in mechanical engineering with upskilled qualifications in NVQ2/3.
- Experience working on large industrial plant equipment, preferably in the utilities industry.
- A full UK driving license is essential, as well as a willingness to participate in out-of-hours standby rotas.
Salary and Benefits
We offer a competitive salary of up to £39,000 per annum, depending on your level of experience, as well as a range of benefits including contributory pension, 24 days' holiday (increasing to 28 days after one year), and access to our benefits hub, which offers discounts and information to support your wellbeing.
