Junior Sous Chef Role Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Junior Sous Chef to join our dynamic culinary team at Mandarin Oriental Mayfair, London.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Sous Chefs in maintaining the highest level of productivity and efficiency in food preparation, while ensuring the highest standards of food safety and quality are upheld.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Support the Sous Chefs in executing standardized dishes according to recipes and user guides in a high-volume atmosphere for high-profile guests.
  • Back the Sous Chefs in driving the team to maintain the highest level of productivity and efficiency in overall food preparation.
  • Project and procure adequate amounts of products in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate the ultimate level of food safety, understanding HACCP principles, and possess the highest personal hygiene.
  • Support the kitchen in the absence of the Sous Chef.

Requirements:

  • Excellent culinary skills and knowledge of kitchen operations.
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain a calm demeanor in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Flexibility to work a rotating shift basis, including weekends and bank holidays.
  • Knowledge of HACCP principles and food safety protocols.
