Job Title: Clinical Coder

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Coder to join our team at Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our clinical coding department, you will be responsible for providing accurate and timely clinical coding services to support our business intelligence outcomes.

About the Role
  • You will abstract and analyse complex information from patients' case notes and translate medical terminology into clinical codes in accordance with ICD-10 and OPCS-4 classifications.
  • Maintain national coding standards and adhere to conventions to assign uniform codes representing a complete picture of patients' hospital stays.
Responsibilities
  • Work under pressure to maintain accuracy, especially during monthly closedown and refresh periods.
  • Check admissions, transfer, and discharge details in patients' medical records and identify errors on the clinical information system.
  • Liaise with clinicians and other medical staff to ensure defined data quality standards are met and validate complex clinical data and procedures.
