Job Description

Kent County Council is seeking a highly skilled Public Sector Governance Officer to join its Democratic Services team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the effective functioning of local government in Kent.

The successful candidate will possess a sound understanding of local government, with confidence and political sensitivity when dealing with elected members and senior officers. Experience in committee clerking and office administration is essential, as well as excellent written English skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams.

As a key member of the Democratic Services team, you will be responsible for facilitating public committee meetings, preparing agendas and reports, and maintaining the committees' work programme. You will also provide advice to officers and members, ensuring that all statutory and constitutional requirements are met.

The ideal candidate will have excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure. In return, KCC offers a competitive salary of £30,000 - £40,000 per annum, depending on experience, as well as an attractive benefits package and flexible working arrangements.
