About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead our Electronics projects. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing innovative electronics solutions that meet customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Lead the design and development of complex electronics systems, including electro-mechanical mechanisms and precision machinery.
  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership and guidance to a small, mixed-discipline project design team to produce high-quality design solutions within cost, time, and quality requirements.
  • Design Tools: Utilize 3D CAD software, such as SolidWorks, to create designs and lead the team in performing classical engineering analysis on designs, including stress, fatigue, and vibration.
  • Testing and Verification: Perform lab testing to verify and confirm design outputs meet design inputs.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Lead the creation of engineering reports to support new product designs, failure investigation, and other formal documentation to meet customer requirements.
  • Integration and Collaboration: Coordinate with wider engineering teams to integrate electronic, control, and drive systems into equipment designs.
  • Support and Assistance: Provide support for production, test, and field engineering teams, as well as assist sales teams with bids and quotations.
Requirements
  • Essential Skills and Experience: Design of complex mechanisms and structures, lead role in system design from concept to production, load analysis and design for drive mechanisms and motor systems, knowledge of machining, casting, fabrication, and moulding, proficient in 3D CAD (ideally SolidWorks), strong technical understanding and leadership in project design.
  • Desirable Skills and Experience: Designing for harsh environments, experience in Defence or related sectors (R&D, manufacturing), coaching and talent development, senior-level experience in small/medium-sized companies.
