We are seeking a highly skilled Technical/NPD Assistant to join our strong technical team at Reed. Reporting to the Technical Manager, this role is integral in supporting a variety of technical and quality assurance activities within a dynamic food manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting routine quality checks on raw materials, finished products, process control, labelling, allergenic, and traceability.
  • Collecting and organising samples for external analysis, including microbiological, chemical, speciation, allergenic, and environmental tests.
  • Undertaking Hygiene, Fabrication, Glass & Perspex audits.
  • Handling Customer Complaints & Non-conformance issues.
  • Updating internal documentation, including quality records, issuing, and maintaining document control.
  • Collating data and completing traces as required by company systems, customers, and third-party inspections.
  • Assessing work specifications and implementing, updating, and issuing as and when required.
  • Maintaining cleaning and maintenance records.
  • Reviewing and maintaining Supplier Approval for all Raw Material, Transport, Packaging, and Service suppliers.
  • Ensuring that all taste panels, shelf lives, and organoleptic testing are completed and recorded in line with company procedures.
  • Assisting in preparing for BRC and customer audits.
  • Preparing and conducting NPD trials, including handling samples and documentation.
  • Issuing specifications and labelling.

Required skills and qualifications include:

  • A 3rd level qualification in a food-related discipline, preferably within the meat industry.
  • Experience in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and keen to learn.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, prioritise tasks, and maintain excellent attention to detail.
