We are seeking a highly skilled Technical/NPD Assistant to join our strong technical team at Reed. Reporting to the Technical Manager, this role is integral in supporting a variety of technical and quality assurance activities within a dynamic food manufacturing environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting routine quality checks on raw materials, finished products, process control, labelling, allergenic, and traceability.
- Collecting and organising samples for external analysis, including microbiological, chemical, speciation, allergenic, and environmental tests.
- Undertaking Hygiene, Fabrication, Glass & Perspex audits.
- Handling Customer Complaints & Non-conformance issues.
- Updating internal documentation, including quality records, issuing, and maintaining document control.
- Collating data and completing traces as required by company systems, customers, and third-party inspections.
- Assessing work specifications and implementing, updating, and issuing as and when required.
- Maintaining cleaning and maintenance records.
- Reviewing and maintaining Supplier Approval for all Raw Material, Transport, Packaging, and Service suppliers.
- Ensuring that all taste panels, shelf lives, and organoleptic testing are completed and recorded in line with company procedures.
- Assisting in preparing for BRC and customer audits.
- Preparing and conducting NPD trials, including handling samples and documentation.
- Issuing specifications and labelling.
Required skills and qualifications include:
- A 3rd level qualification in a food-related discipline, preferably within the meat industry.
- Experience in a food manufacturing environment.
- Flexible, adaptable, and keen to learn.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure, prioritise tasks, and maintain excellent attention to detail.
