Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Children's Nurse to join our team as a Palliative Nurse Specialist. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people with life-limiting conditions.

About the Role

This role will involve delivering high-quality, individualised care and support to children and young people with complex medical needs within their own homes or other environments where respite is requested. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with families, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless care coordination and excellent patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • To provide skilled nursing care and emotional support to children and young people with life-limiting conditions and their families.
  • To supervise children and young people in the absence of their parents or carers and communicate effectively with all members of the care team.
  • To promote evidence-based practices and advocate for the best interests of the children and young people on our caseload.
  • To work closely with the end-of-life team leader to plan and deliver end-of-life care that meets the unique needs of each child and family.
  • To participate in clinical governance activities and contribute to the development of policies and procedures that support high-quality care delivery.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • RSCN/RN (Child) or equivalent qualification and current NMC registration.
  • Able to speak fluent English to an appropriate standard.
  • Experience working with children and young people with complex medical needs and a strong understanding of palliative care principles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with families and healthcare professionals.
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to work, with a willingness to work varied shifts, including evenings and weekends.
