About the Role

The Curtis Recruitment team is looking for a skilled Statutory Audit and Accounts Specialist to join our team, responsible for assisting partners in delivering statutory audit and accounts services to a diverse portfolio of clients. This exciting opportunity could be at Assistant Manager level for an experienced Senior looking to take the next step, with a competitive salary of £65,000 - £85,000 per annum.

This is a dynamic and social team within a reputable firm that offers a comprehensive benefits package, including 25 days holiday, flexible working patterns, and opportunities for further development and career progression.

The role involves managing junior team members, allocating work, reviewing, and supporting their growth and development. Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning and delivery of accounts/audit assignments in conjunction with the client partner
  • Leading large and complex assignments
  • Supervising junior staff during the audit and reviewing their work
  • Delivering the audit file to the partner in a timely manner
  • Identifying cross-selling opportunities and potential management letter points
  • Managing client communication effectively
  • Monitoring chargeability and assignment budgets proactively
  • Counseling other staff for improved performance and technical development
  • Developing specialist sector knowledge and staying up-to-date with industry developments
  • Mentoring audit & accounts trainees and contributing to the training and development program

Requirements include:

  • ACA/ACCA qualified with significant post-qualified experience within a practice environment
  • Experience of audit planning, budget preparation, identifying key risks, developing an audit plan, and executing the audit on site
  • Knowledge and experience of current auditing standards and approaches
  • Experience preparing audit and accounts files using an electronic working paper system
  • Being IT literate with experience of accounts and audit software
  • Significant prior experience of statutory company accounts preparation under FRS102
  • Leadership experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills
