Salary

We offer a competitive salary of $63,000 per year, which aligns with the Commonwealth pay bands. In addition, a $3,000 sign-on bonus is available for qualified candidates who agree to a 12-month tenure.

Job Description

As a Maintenance Operator, you will be responsible for responding to emergency roadway and severe weather events to prepare and operate equipment for snow and ice removal. You will also attend work zone training, prepare work zones, and perform traffic control. Additionally, you will demonstrate proper work site protection techniques, identify workplace safety hazards, and maintain current knowledge of safety rules and regulations.

You will participate as a working team member performing manual labor, including clearing drainage, cutting brush, pot-hole patching, and fulfilling tasks required to complete road maintenance projects. Your responsibilities will include completing pre-trip inspections, performing preventive maintenance, and operating power tools and light to heavy equipment.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A valid CDL or CDL Learner's Permit
  • Experience with heavy manual labor and heavy equipment operation
  • Experience performing preventive maintenance and minor equipment repairs
  • Experience in emergency operations, including snow removal, storms, and accident response and clean-up
  • Ability to work in inclement weather and respond to accidents and emergencies during and after normal work hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
