Job Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Renal Department at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals, a busy and fast-paced department providing patient care across the region. We are seeking individuals who are enthusiastic, forward-thinking, kind, and caring, ensuring they put patients and families first throughout their journey.

Main Duties of the Job

You will be a member of a team of support medical secretaries providing administrative support to consultants, junior medical staff, and other staff. You will work alongside experienced secretarial and clinical teams, helping to deliver safe care and a good experience for patients. Your work will cover a wide range of duties, including:

  • Dealing with patient queries and concerns
  • Downloading and typing clinic and results letters
  • Retrieving information and using electronic patient record systems
  • Providing cover for medical secretaries during annual leave and absence

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Good general education to GCSE standard or equivalent
  • Secretarial qualification (RSA or equivalent experience)
  • ECDL or equivalent experience
  • Efficient use of Microsoft Word for Windows
  • Experience of Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and internet
  • Previous secretarial experience
  • Understanding of the role in relation to sensitive information
