Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Instrumentation, Control & Automation (ICA) engineering technician to join our team at Thames Water.

As an ICA Technician, you will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, fault diagnosing, testing, installing, modifying or repairing SCADA systems and associated instrumentation, control and automation equipment in a safe, efficient, timely and effective manner with minimum supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carrying out planned maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on defective equipment.
  • Installing, modifying, and commissioning new plant equipment to relevant standards.
  • Diagnosing and repairing faults on systems and plants.
  • Providing specialist technical advice with up-to-date technical knowledge.
  • Traveling to other sites in the surrounding area.

Requirements:

  • A good, practical understanding of operational plant and control systems.
  • An understanding of Wonderware and ClearSCADA is desirable.
  • Knowledge and experience working with relay logic and PLCs (Rockwell & Alan Bradley).
  • The ability to read and fault find from circuit diagrams.
  • Previous experience with inverter drives.
  • Experience in calibration and maintenance of front-line instrumentation.
  • A qualification in an electrical subject, such as HNC or City and Guilds Part 2.
