Aspiring Occupational Therapist

Academics Ltd is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Aspiring Occupational Therapist to join our team as a Specialist Support Professional. About the RoleWe are committed to providing high-quality support to students who require additional assistance due to moderate learning difficulties and mental health needs. Our ideal candidate will have career aspirations in becoming an Occupational Therapist, with a focus on pediatric and mental health areas. If you are enthusiastic about working with children who have come from challenging backgrounds, including trauma, neglect, ADHD, Autism, and developed mental health issues, this role may be an excellent fit.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with class teachers to deliver tailored learning experiences that cater to the unique needs of students.
- Utilize conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques to create a safe and supportive environment.
- Provide behaviour and pastoral support to students, ensuring their well-being and safety.
- Work closely with therapists to develop forward-planning strategies that meet individual student needs.
- Employ a practical approach to address the diverse requirements of students.
- Be willing to work one-on-one and in small groups with students, adapting to their needs and preferences.
- Maintain a secure and respectful environment for students, adhering to safeguarding procedures.
- Participate in staff meetings and engage in continuous professional development (CPD) to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Demonstrate patience, empathy, and understanding in interactions with students.
- Show a deep understanding of challenging behaviours and develop effective strategies to manage them.
- Be adaptable and responsive to changing situations, prioritizing the needs of students.
- Foster trusting and positive relationships with students, built on mutual respect and open communication.
