Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior DevOps Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our edge computing team, you will be responsible for designing, building, and deploying automation pipelines for secure software delivery to the edge. Your expertise in cloud and edge computing technologies will be crucial in optimizing application performance, reliability, and observability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Deploy Automation Pipelines: Design, build, and deploy automation pipelines for secure software delivery to the edge, adhering to CI/CD best practices and standards.
  • Collaborate with Development Teams: Collaborate with development teams to optimize application performance, reliability, and observability on the edge, utilizing cloud (GCP) and relevant edge computing platforms.
  • Implement Service Level Objectives: Implement and enforce Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Error Budgets specifically tailored for edge deployments, ensuring a balance between reliability and feature development.
  • Collaborate with Security Teams: Collaborate with security teams to ensure compliance with policies and implement necessary controls for edge environments throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Stay Up-to-Date with Industry Trends: Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in edge computing, SRE, cloud (GCP), and related technologies, contributing to process and infrastructure enhancements for edge deployments.
  • Provide Technical Guidance: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing culture around edge computing.
  • Work with Cross-Functional Teams: Work effectively with cross-functional teams, including development, operations, security, and business stakeholders, to align on priorities and deliver optimal edge solutions.
  • Document Edge Deployment Solutions: Thoroughly document edge deployment solutions to ensure maintainability and knowledge transfer.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Related Field: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ Years of Experience in Software Development: 3+ years of experience in software development, demonstrating a preference for writing robust and maintainable code.
  • Proficiency in Python, Bash, or Other Shell Scripting: Proficiency in Python, Bash, or other shell scripting for automation.
  • Agile and DevOps Development Methodology: Fully conversant with Agile and DevOps development methodology and concepts as applied to data-driven analytics projects, including CI/CD coding, security testing best practices, and standards.
  • Distributed Systems and Real-Time Monitoring: Experience with distributed systems and real-time monitoring of edge deployments in production environments.
  • Excellent Communication and Collaboration Skills: Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Eagerness to Learn New Technologies: Eagerness to learn new technologies and collaborate with experts in various domains, particularly in edge computing.
  • Ability to Work Independently: The ability to work independently when required.
Desirable Skills
  • Cloud Services Experience: Experience with cloud services like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP), specifically in relation to edge computing services.
  • Containerization Technologies: Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes, including in edge environments.
  • Deep Understanding of Security Considerations: Deep understanding of security considerations specific to edge computing deployments throughout the software development lifecycle.
