We are seeking a highly experienced radiographer to lead our CT Service within the Radiology, Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering Directorate at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.

Job Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for the organisation, planning and management of the delivery of a comprehensive and effective CT Service. This role is suited to an experienced radiographer seeking to enhance their professional development by utilising their management skills within an established team.

Main Duties
  • Lead on issues of training, recruitment/selection, equipment selection, rotas and influence the onward strategy of the modality.
  • Work with the Professional Head of Radiography and the Clinical Director to deliver a high-quality, comprehensive service.
  • Utilise experience and skill in an environment that supports and promotes continued professional development.

This position requires an innovative and flexible approach to problem-solving, with the confidence to work within a busy hospital environment. The post holder will have an in-depth understanding of current trends and practices in relevant specialties and possess leadership skills, including the ability to delegate and work under pressure.

Person Specification

Qualifications: DCR BSc Radiography qualifications, Postgraduate qualifications MSc or equivalent, HPC registration, Evidence of Managerial Development, and Post Graduate qualification(s) and formal specialist training in related imaging fields.

Essential: Experience Exposure to a wide range of imaging systems and processes, Previous Organisational Experience, Previous management experience, In depth experience in the health care environment, Experience at senior level in relevant speciality, Special Knowledge Advanced clinical knowledge of current trends and practices in relevant speciality, Knowledge of radiological anatomy specific to relevant modality, Personal Qualities Leadership skills, Team worker, Caring, Empathetic, Good communicator, Good decision maker, Ability to delegate, Ability to work under pressure, Mature social skills, EXPERIENCE Experience of working in other specialist modalities which impact on the CT imaging service, Research and development experience, PERSONAL QUALITIES Flexible, Evidence of problem solving, Analytical skills, Experience as a researcher, Experience of working in a Multi Disciplinary Team (MDT), SKILLS Reporting skills, Initiative, Skill extensions from previous roles, IV Cannulation, Evidence of presentations to Audit CPD Conferences Past papers etc, Clinical education, SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE Ability to clinically assess, evaluate and apply relevant speciality protocols.
