Transport Planner

We are seeking a well-organised and self-motivated individual to join our team as an Apprentice Transport Planner. This role is responsible for planning and managing a designated region of our commercial vehicle fleet, working towards carefully defined transport budgets and targets.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage drivers and subcontractors remotely to ensure efficient fleet operations.
- Produce and deliver a daily fleet schedule by depot to meet customer demands.
- Review and develop work volumes and fleet resource requirements to optimise logistics.
- Liaise with depot operations management to ensure seamless communication.
- Assist with other day-to-day operational duties and problem-solving to maintain high service standards.
- Provide exceptional customer service by ensuring orders are fulfilled promptly and efficiently.
- Report to the Transport Supervisor and Office Managers to ensure alignment with company goals.
- Perform additional duties as required by the Company to support business growth.
- Comply with all Company policies related to Code of Conduct, Environmental, Health and Safety, and Community.
- Exceptional organisational skills to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy to ensure data integrity.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Self-motivated, ambitious, flexible, and adaptable to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Works with integrity and confidentiality to maintain trust with colleagues and customers.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey complex information effectively.
- Ability to work within a fast-paced office environment and cope with pressurised circumstances.
- Experienced at managing and developing relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Team player with the ability to work on own initiative to achieve goals.
- Excellent PC skills including Microsoft package skills to support business operations.
- Experience of Transport Planning, preferably within the recycling industry.
- Experience of KPI reporting to explain performance and target areas for improvement.
- UK geographical knowledge to understand regional logistics requirements.
- Financial knowledge in vehicle and driver costings to optimise fleet operations.
- Knowledge of providing transport freight quotations to support customer needs.
