We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Special Needs Assistant to join our 'Outstanding' Primary SEN School in Southampton.

About the Role:

This is a full-time, term-time contract with opportunities for permanent positions. As a Special Needs Assistant, you will support classes of up to 9 pupils with complex learning difficulties, including autism, speech and language disorders, and challenging behaviors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis, assisting with feeding and personal hygiene duties.
  • Build positive relationships with young people, motivating and encouraging them to learn.
  • Act as a positive role model, providing guidance and support when needed.
Requirements:

To be considered for this position, you must have GCSE C or above in English and Maths, or level 2 Functional Skills English and Maths.

A background in working with children within a school setting is ideal, with experience using PECS, Makaton, etc., being an advantage.

Work Environment:

The school is purpose-built, featuring soft play rooms, multi-sensory interactive rooms, and a hydrotherapy pool.
