Procurement Strategist

Venn Group is currently working with a prominent NHS organisation to find a highly capable Procurement Professional to join their team as Deputy Head of Operational Procurement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead key strategic elements of the Health Board's procurement strategy and major projects.
• Manage strategic and complex procurement projects, including tendering, commercial assessment, and contract management.
• Ensure compliance with UK public procurement laws, internal policies, and regulations.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and contribute to financial strategy formation.
• Manage supplier relationships to enhance procurement initiatives.
• Lead, manage, and motivate a team, setting clear goals through performance management.
• Provide procurement leadership and technical expertise across diverse service areas.
• Develop staff capabilities through hands-on training and cross-skilling.

Requirements:

• Strong knowledge of procurement law, Health Board procedures, and public procurement regulations.
• Experience with strategic sourcing, project management, and procurement best practices.
• Project management qualification (PRINCE2).
• Familiarity with e-business systems and NHS procurement.
• Proven experience in high-value, complex procurement management.
• Expertise in public procurement and contract law.
• Experience managing teams and delivering results under tight financial constraints.
• Self-motivated with excellent time management and organisational skills.
