Job Title: Building Surveyor

We are seeking a skilled Building Surveyor to join our team at Public Sector Recruitment. As a Building Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in providing technical advice and assistance to individuals with disabilities and older owner-occupiers in respect of home improvement works and adaptations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify property defects and solutions, preparing surveys and identifying hazards in the home using the Housing Health & Safety Rating System (HHSRS).
  • Provide technical advice on whether work to a property is technically possible, prepare schedules of work, detailed specifications, and drawings as appropriate, calculating costs.
  • Liaise with contractors and assist with any disputes between contractors and clients.
  • Manage caseloads and identify hazards in the home, issuing hazard awareness advice and referring cases to the Private Sector Housing Team when necessary.
Requirements:
  • Able to carry out estate/house inspections and produce reports.
  • Liaise with administrative colleagues to organize meetings in preparation of reports.
  • Detailed and extensive knowledge and practical experience of building construction, building defects, and their remedies, the housing health & safety rating system, and the legislation relating to disabled facilities grants (DFGs).
  • Good working knowledge of relevant legislations and codes of practice.
  • Great verbal and written communication skills.
  • Supportive attitude and ability to work well in a team.
  • At least 2+ years of surveying experience.
