We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical Underwriting Trainee to join our Service Delivery Underwriting teams in Colchester, Glasgow, or York. As a key member of our underwriting hub, you will play a critical role in delivering exceptional service to our customers and driving business growth.
Key Responsibilities- Underwrite new and existing business across our commercial products, ensuring high standards are met.
- Work towards set targets, including profitability, GWP, conversion, retention, cross-sell, referral rate reduction, quotes per day, turnaround times, workflow management, phone service, and prospecting.
- Develop sales skills and appreciation of sales and underwriting strategy in collaboration with the wider teams and regions.
- Effectively negotiate with internal and external parties and identify points of contact within brokers.
- Challenge non-standard underwriting decisions, leveraging product specialists and senior team members.
- Show courage and innovation by spotting process improvements and enhancing the customer experience.
- Experience in an insurer, underwriting environment, and a desire to build a career in underwriting.
- A strong team player, capable of taking ownership and driving results.
- An analytical mind, proactive in thought process, and the ability to back up decisions.
- A natural flair for building relationships, enabling close rapport with brokers, clients, and colleagues.
- Ability to be an ambassador of Hiscox, demonstrating dedication and commitment in a fast-growing and demanding area.
- Self-motivated, with a strong determination to learn, achieve results, and succeed.
- Willingness to begin ACII qualification.
