Safety and Quality Manager

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Safety and Quality Manager to join our team at Stonbury Ltd. This is a key role that requires a strong understanding of safety, health, wellbeing, environmental, and quality standards.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert advice and guidance to the business, overseeing the day-to-day activities of SHWEQ Advisors, and driving continuous improvement in operational delivery.

This is an excellent opportunity to work with a direct delivery specialist contractor to the water industry and wider water environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Deputise for the SHWEQ Director as required.
  • Conduct Management System auditing in collaboration with the SHWEQ and Compliance Advisor.
  • Direct Client engagement and support, serving as the primary point of contact for day-to-day SHWEQ activities and communication.
  • Lead and develop the SHWEQ Advisors team.
  • Investigate incidents, analyze root causes, and identify lessons learned.
  • Carry out site, depot, and facilities pre-construction inspections.
  • Manage regional SHWEQ enhancement plans related to operational sites and facilities.
  • Audit contractors, review their work, and approve them where necessary.
  • Initiate and lead SHWEQ improvement projects to drive industry best practices.
  • Attend and contribute to client and third-party seminars, promoting learning and development opportunities for the business.
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Construction (Design and Management) experience, particularly as a Principal Contractor and Principal Designer.
  • Experience supporting behaviour and cultural programmes.
  • Membership of a professional body (IOSH, IIRSM, IEMA), preferably CMIOSH.
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent preferred; NEBOSH Certificate in Construction Health and Safety or NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) as a minimum.
  • Experience writing policies and procedures.
  • Effective Root Cause Analysis techniques.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team to solve problems.
  • Fully clean UK driving license and willingness to travel throughout the UK with occasional overnight stays.
  • Excellent communication skills to engage with employees at all levels.
