Compassionate Care Assistant for Independent Living

Newcastle upon Tyne, Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom Disability North Full time

Hannah is a 16-year-old girl with severe learning difficulties and Autism. We are seeking a Personal Assistant to accompany and assist her as she explores her local community, develops her independence, and achieves her goals.

About Hannah

Hannah is a lovely and bubbly individual who enjoys music, dancing, and singing. She has a collection of 'Hello Kitty' toys that she cares for with great enthusiasm. Hannah is also tech-savvy and can use electronic devices with ease. However, she requires supervision due to her lack of sense of danger and may display challenging behaviors in unfamiliar situations.

We require someone who will become an extension of our family and has the flexibility to work around Hannah's routines. This role involves accompanying Hannah on outings, encouraging her to try new experiences, and supporting her in developing skills such as using public transport and accessing local amenities.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with individuals with learning disabilities and Autism. They must be able to provide hands-on care assistance and have the ability to motivate and encourage Hannah to participate in activities. A car driver is preferred but not essential, and the candidate must be happy to access public transport.

We also have two cockapoos in the household who enjoy joining in with family activities. The successful candidate will need to love dogs and be comfortable with them being present.

What We Offer

This is a part-time position requiring approximately 6 hours per week, including weekends. The salary for this role is £14.00 per hour, which reflects the level of experience and skills required. As we are committed to providing high-quality support for Hannah, we offer a competitive salary and benefits package.

The successful candidate will need to have permission to work in the UK at the time of starting employment. We look forward to hearing from candidates who share our values and are passionate about supporting individuals with learning disabilities and Autism.
