Job Description: As a Preliminary Costs Specialist, you will be responsible for preparing preliminary costs and participating in the design development process. Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Appraisal of tender documents
  • Preparation of material and sub-contract enquiries, including selection of prospective subcontractors
  • Attending meetings with project team
  • Site visits to identify site-specific risks
  • Contributing to the design development process and attending design team meetings
  • Preparing analytical cost estimates, including preliminaries
  • Preparing budgets and cost plans
  • Adjudicating and comparing sub-contractor quotations
  • Initiating technical queries and ensuring design sufficiently developed to ensure accurate costings
Requirements: To be successful in this role, you should have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. A good understanding of BIM and estimating software would be beneficial. Excellent communication and negotiation skills are essential.

Salary Range: The estimated salary for this position is around £55,000 - £75,000 per annum, depending on experience.
