The Department of Humanities & Law enjoys a unique position within the Faculty of Media and Communication, which is one of the largest of its kind in the world and has a global reputation for combining research in the creative industries with teaching and professional practice.
We have a flourishing academic culture in Law, centred around our BU Law Community and the Centre for Intellectual Property Policy & Management (CIPPM). We are recognised as a global leader in Intellectual Property scholarship and Human Rights research. Your research will focus on an area of our current provision or an emergent area of Law. You will demonstrate the ability to develop and deliver proposals and applications for external funding. In addition, the post holder will be involved in the development of research groupings to build our research culture and environment.
We work in partnership with our students to co-create research and foster their ambitions. Our Law undergraduate programmes include a range of degrees: LLB Law, LLB Law with Legal Practice, Law with Politics, and Law, Media and Creative industries. We also deliver successful postgraduate academic and professional courses. We have a framework of LLMs, with a variety of specialisms including Public International Law, International Commercial Law, Intellectual Property Law, and a recently revalidated LLM in Legal Practice.
The successful candidate will play a key role at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. You will have the ability to develop innovative learning experiences for students in online, blended, and face-to-face delivery. You will have the experience and ability to teach flexibly across Foundation Subjects. It is essential you demonstrate an ability to teach the following law subjects – Corporate Law and Governance and Business Law and Practice.
You will have a Doctorate in Law, or a Masters equivalent with the ability to create and disseminate knowledge at an equivalent level, or you will have the capability to convert this knowledge into a doctorate in a maximum of 3-5 years from date of appointment.
This position will not typically meet the eligibility requirements for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker Route within the UK Visa and Immigration service's , unless exceptional circumstances apply, e.g. meeting the 'new entrant' criteria.
