Principal Researcher - Legal Finance & Accounting

Our highly reputable law firm client is seeking an experienced Finance Systems Analyst to maintain the practice management system (Aderant) and provide reporting and analytical support. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our financial systems, providing valuable insights to inform strategic decisions.

  • Maintain and improve the Aderant system, including time, billing, expenses, general ledger, and reporting.
  • Develop and manage relationships between Aderant and the firm.
  • Responsibilities include system upgrades, assessing new Aderant product offerings, and providing system training to new joiners and ad-hoc training as required.
  • Maintain Aderant user security, access, and administration.
  • Resolve complex system requests and queries efficiently.
  • Manage month-end system close process and monthly exchange rate updates.

The Finance Systems Analyst will also be responsible for providing reporting and analytical support, including:

  • Maintaining and developing our SSRS reporting suite, producing new reports as needed.
  • Compiling historical financial data in a useful format to inform strategic pricing decisions.
  • Developing ad-hoc and standardized financial and performance reports on partner/matter/client levels to enhance transparency for partners.
  • Tracking and maintaining pertinent information relating to all pricing and budgeting/fee estimate efforts and offerings across the firm.
  • Monitoring adherence to our time-recording policy and escalating non-compliance issues.
  • Supporting the finance team's overall tasks, acting as backup/support for appropriate tasks.
  • Contributing to projects that improve and expand reporting capabilities, including data cubes and BI dashboards.

To succeed in this role, you must have:

  • SIGNIFICANT experience in legal or professional services finance systems.
  • A strong understanding and experience of Aderant Practice Management Systems.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to convert complex/raw data into concise and actionable intelligence.
  • Experience working in an international and multi-currency environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and professionalism.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced international environment.
  • A high level of attention to detail, sound judgment, and logical decision-making with a hands-on approach.
  • A proactive attitude with a 'can do' approach.
  • A collaborative team player attitude with the ability to work cooperatively and flexibly with a varied team of people.
  • A commitment to ensuring fiscal integrity and handling highly confidential information with discretion.
  • Demonstrated competence to assess priorities and manage multiple activities in a timely manner.

This role offers an estimated salary of £50,000-60,000 per annum, depending on experience, and a chance to work with our esteemed client in a dynamic and challenging environment.
