**Job Description:** We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Accounts Assistant / AAT Technician to join our team of chartered accountants in Exeter. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing hands-on support with accounts preparation, tax, management accounts, VAT, bookkeeping, and other financial duties.

The ideal candidate will have a background working in the accountancy practice sector, with experience in year-end accounts preparation, tax, bookkeeping, and VAT. You may be AAT qualified or studying at AAT level 4, or have developed your career entirely through experience. We offer excellent career progression prospects within a well-established firm of chartered accountants with full study support.

Responsibilities and Requirements:

  • Provide hands-on support with accounts preparation, tax, management accounts, VAT, bookkeeping, and other financial duties
  • Assist with year-end accounts preparation and tax returns
  • Develop technical skills and progress within the team
  • Support clients across various industries, including OMBs, SMEs, corporate limited company clients, smaller sole traders, and partnerships
  • AAT qualified or studying at AAT level 4, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in the accountancy practice sector
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
