About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Specialty Doctor to join our Paediatric team at The Children's Trust. As a key member of our medical team, you will be responsible for providing clinical care to children with brain injury and neurodisability.
Main Responsibilities
- Contribute to the admission of new patients and provide regular medical support in consultation with the child's consultant and senior specialty doctors.
- Attend regular unit meetings, arrange investigations, write admission and discharge summaries, and manage clinical cases with the support of consultants.
- Participate in medical ward rounds, phlebotomy, tracheostomy and gastrostomy button changes, drug charts, and reports.
- Attend clinics in neuropsychiatry, neurology, orthopaedic, audiology, ophthalmology, dental, splint/brace, feeding, and botulinum toxin injection.
- Develop emergency protocols and serve as a member of the Emergency Response Team.
Team Collaboration
As a member of our medical team, you will support and participate in weekly medical team meetings, contribute to arrangements as required by the Medical Director, and attend multi-disciplinary meetings, teaching sessions, and journal clubs.
Quality Improvement
You will participate fully in the investigation of complaints, clinical incidents, and near misses in line with The Children's Trust's policy, using IRAR (an online incident reporting system).
Education and Training
You will provide guidance and support to immediate medical and multi-disciplinary team colleagues and the wider service, participate in orientation and induction for new medical staff, and represent the medical team and participate in The Children's Trust-wide activity as appropriate.
General Responsibilities
You will adhere to the policies and procedures of The Children's Trust, maintain professional boundaries and professionalism, and promote the health and safety of others.
Requirements
- Demonstrate understanding of the basic principles of audit and potential to contribute to quality improvement projects.
- Evidence of active participation in clinical audits and quality improvement projects.
- Evidence of APLS.
- MBBS/Equivalent qualification.
- GMC Registration.
- Licence to Practice.
