About the Role

The Product Development Specialist will be responsible for driving the development of new products and standardization for a given product family. This role will play a critical part in reducing costs through design and standard catalogues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with tender coordination and validation across the product line.
  • Help reduce costs through design and standard catalogues.
  • Maintain the product portfolio from a technical standpoint, fulfilling the needs of OE tenders and project execution.
  • Develop and withdraw products and product variants according to the strategy set by the product manager.
  • Create effective documentation for products.
  • Execute necessary validations.
  • Manage non-conformity applicable to the products after system engineering confirmation.
  • Interface with Purchasing, Production, Quality, and Laboratory for procuring parts, assembling, testing, and validating prototypes.
  • Lead activities for reducing the cost of specific products.
  • Propose a yearly Margin Improvement Plan.
  • Apply design for assembly and testability, including concurrent design with Suppliers.
  • Perform Supplier Quality Assurance, design reviews, and drafting specifications for commodities and purchased articles.
  • Provide validation status of the product and the list of ongoing and foreseen modifications, together with its evaluation of possible risks on the costs.
  • Contribute to the industrialisation process and ToT.
  • Contribute to the programming activity of the product manager (list of activities, time plan, budget, risks).
  • Contribute to the preparation of the engineering product budget.
  • Support the resolution of the quality product issue.

Requirements

  • Engineering experience required, e.g., Maintenance, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Health and Safety, Production Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Production, Quality, Design.
  • HND / Degree in engineering or equivalent preferred but not essential.
  • Fully proficient with modern manufacturing methodology.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Meticulous and detail-oriented.
  • Efficient planning and time-management skills.
  • Ability to correlate information effectively.
