Job Opportunity: Composite Laminator


Navis Consulting is seeking a skilled Composite Laminator to join our team in a global leader in lightweight composite structures. This company operates across various markets, including marine, defense, automotive, and aerospace.


The successful candidate will work in a team environment, collaborating with colleagues to produce a range of products. Key responsibilities include:

  • Laminating and Tooling: Performing a variety of laminating processes, including wet-lay, infusion, vac-bagging, pre-preg, and RTM.
  • Specification Review: Carefully reading and understanding lay-up specifications to ensure accuracy.
  • Quality Control: Checking information on drawings and route card instructions to guarantee correct execution.
  • Process Adherence: Maintaining the highest quality standards by following established processes.
  • Tool Utilization: Effectively using hand tools and a wide range of fabrics, CSM, and cloths in dry and pre-preg formats.
  • Defect Identification: Recognizing laminating defects and taking corrective action.
  • Time Management: Accurately recording daily time spent on jobs on weekly timesheets.
  • Personal Protective Equipment: Correctly using PPE to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Collaboration with QA: Working with the QA team to ensure parts are manufactured effectively and according to drawings and lay-up books to ISO standards.
  • Process Improvement: Contributing to the development of processes to enhance quality and efficiency.
  • Maintenance and Housekeeping: Maintaining equipment in good working order and ensuring the department remains clean.


Requirements:

  • At least 2 years of experience in the marine, aerospace, automotive, or other quality-driven industry.
  • Familiarity with pre-preg autoclave processes and materials such as carbon and glass.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy levels.
  • Ability to follow procedures and work instructions/manuals.
  • Good verbal communication and listening skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience in a fast-paced environment.
  • Motorsport/automotive composite experience is highly desirable.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings is an advantage.
