Job Title: Truck Maintenance Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Truck Maintenance Specialist to join our client, a leading food manufacturing company in Newcastle-under-Lyme. As a key member of their team, you will be responsible for ensuring the upkeep and repair of their heavy vehicle fleet.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in mechanical and electrical systems, with experience working on Class 1 and Class 2 vehicles. A City & Guilds qualification or apprenticeship in HGV mechanics is essential, as is a proven track record of performing routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tyre rotations, and brake inspections. You will also need to be proficient in using diagnostic tools and equipment, with a strong understanding of safety and environmental regulations.

The role offers a competitive salary of up to £36,000 per annum, with benefits including improved pension schemes and a comprehensive company benefits package. In return for your expertise, you will enjoy a permanent position with regular working hours, Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, with every third week featuring call-out cover (call-out bonuses included).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, tyre rotations, and brake inspections.
  • Examine heavy vehicles for structural issues or damages.
  • Use diagnostic equipment to identify mechanical and electronic issues.
  • Fix or replace malfunctioning parts using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment.
  • Ensure repaired parts and systems operate correctly.
  • Discuss vehicle issues with clients or operators to understand problems better.
  • Maintain detailed records of inspections, repairs, and parts used.
  • Ensure all work complies with safety and environmental regulations.
