Production Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Production Engineer to join our team at Jabil Careers. As a key member of our manufacturing operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth production of our products while maintaining the highest level of quality and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities- Support all production engineering activities within a controlled shop floor environment, including equipment fault finding, new product introduction, and existing product process verification.
- Implement documentation and controls for all production processes in line with company, international, and customer standards.
- Ensure all production processes meet the requirements laid out by the engineering team, including all documentation, drawings, and/or process instructions.
- Produce, sign off, and train operators on new processes, providing detailed work instructions for each process or product.
- Complete risk assessments prior to undertaking any activity not covered by standard production risk assessment or standard operating procedure (SOP), ensuring that risks and hazards in activities undertaken in the role are acknowledged and conducted in accordance with processes, procedure, and measures in place to mitigate risks.
- Support the engineering implementation of lean principles, such as 5S, and continuously monitor and improve production processes.
- Advise the engineering manager on progress of jobs, parts availability, delivery targets, and any emergent problems to meet targets.
- Bring to the attention of the engineering and operations manager consistent areas of failure and offer solutions to eradicate these within capable means.
- Identify areas of improvement and implement changes to reduce the cost to the company while maintaining quality of service and product.
- Encourage inter-departmental team working to improve working practices and shared learning.
- Promote Health, Safety, and Environmental awareness.
- Ensure that all work undertaken is done so in a safe manner.
- Observe and Enforce company safety, quality, and environmental management systems.
- Monitor production process and take appropriate action to ensure they are adhered to and problems are minimised.
- Ensure that all records are updated after completion of work.
- Ensure all equipment and tooling is suitable and maintained in good condition.
- Ensure all engineering work is completed to appropriate quality standards.
- Ensure that any modifications to process are properly controlled and documented.
- Support the company in its drive to create a safer, higher quality, more productive working environment.
- Take an active part in team training and improvement initiatives.
- Participate in team training and development events.
- Encourage team working and seek to share best working practices with co-workers.
- The role is based in a manufacturing environment and may require occasional travel to support business growth plans.
- The role will require the use of Display screen equipment and Microsoft office work packages.
- The role will require a significant level of manual dexterity, handling, and lifting to fulfill the role.
- Over and above the contracted full-time hours, the employee may be expected to work occasional extended hours, including weekends, to meet business needs.
- The employee should be flexible and able to work to tight deadlines (regular or ad hoc).
- Use of Microsoft office packages.
- Use of company MRP/ERP system.
- Use of other company-specific software packages.
- Essential:
- A BSc or BEng degree in engineering, ideally Electronics or Mechanical.
- Equipment / Process Fault Finding.
- Production support engineering and factory operational requirements.
- Process/Production Engineering including process flow, process optimisation, lean processing, 5S.
- 5 Years + Experience of working in a production environment (Ideally within an ESD or electronics sector).
- Preferred:
- Lean Principles qualification (5S, 6 Sigma etc).
- Experience of statistical process control and machine efficiency/data capture.
- Experience of Electronic components & rework processes.
- Quality Management systems (ISO or AS).
